Hey – I just souped up my car with a new race car engine and rims – it rocks! But do I need to let my insurance carrier know that I changed these parts? Or do I need special high performance car insurance in San Diego?

T.D.,
Sounds like you added some cool upgrades to your car! However, you absolutely need to let your carrier know about the changes. New parts may add value and even risk to the car, so your carrier will need to know what they are and how much they are worth. If you don’t inform your carrier of the changes, and they find out later, your policy will be terminated. So definitely call your carrier! But, before you do, it’s a good idea to get the value of your upgrades and check online for high performance car insurance in San Diego so that you have something to compare to the rates what your current carrier quotes you.
